Muhammad was born in the city of Mecca on the Arabian Peninsula around 570 CE.

He was a merchant who became known for his honesty and trustworthiness.

According to Islamic tradition, at the age of 40, he began receiving divine revelations from God (Allah) through the Angel Gabriel.

These revelations, which continued for the rest of his life, were compiled into the Quran, the holy book of Islam.

The core message he preached was strict monotheism and the need to submit to the will of the one true God.

He preached against the polytheism and social injustices of Meccan society.

He and his early followers faced persecution from the powerful tribes of Mecca.

In 622 CE, he led his community on a migration from Mecca to the city of Medina, an event known as the Hijra, which marks the beginning of the Islamic calendar.

In Medina, he established the first Islamic state, serving as its political, military, and religious leader.

By the time of his death in 632 CE, he had successfully united most of the Arabian Peninsula under the new faith of Islam.
