Tropical Storm Barry formed Sunday morning in the Bay of Campeche, located in the southern Gulf of Mexico.

Barry has maximum sustained winds of 40 mph and is moving northwest at 6 mph.

The storm is expected to make landfall on the eastern coast of Mexico later Sunday.

After landfall, Barry is forecast to weaken quickly as it moves inland over Mexico.

Heavy rainfall in northeastern Mexico could lead to life-threatening flooding and mudslides.

No local impacts are expected in the U.S. from Tropical Storm Barry.

Barry is the second named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, following Tropical Storm Andrea.

Forecasters are also monitoring a weather disturbance in northern Florida.

The Florida system has a 20% chance of tropical formation within the next seven days.
